"Making the Invisible, Visible: The first step..."

I Know Why the Caged Birds Sing
A free bird leaps on the back
Of the wind and floats downstream
Till the current ends and dips his wing
In the orange sun rays
And dares to claim the sky.
But a bird that stalks down his narrow cage
Can seldom see through his bars of rage
His wings are clipped and his feet are tied
So he opens his throat to sing.
The caged bird sings with a fearful trill
Of things unknown but longed for still
And his tune is heard on the distant hill for
The caged bird sings of freedom.
The free bird thinks of another breeze
And the trade winds soft through
The sighing trees
And the fat worms waiting on a dawn-bright
Lawn and he names the sky his own.
But a caged  bird stands on the grave of dreams
His shadow shouts on a nightmare scream
His wings are clipped and his feet are tied
So he opens his throat to sing.
The caged bird sings with
A fearful trill of things unknown
But longed for still and his
Tune is heard on the distant hill
For the caged bird sings of freedom

Domestic workers are people who work as a servant within the employers' household. There are about 27million domestic workers who are having problems with their employers including many migrant workers from poor reign. Many were physically abused, not allowed to return to their country and  sexually harassed by their employers. If they tried to refuse, the employers will violate them and domestic workers had no freedom as they have no rights to get out from the job of domestic workers. Moreover, they were also treated inhumanly and the employers mostly discriminate domestic workers like no wages until the contract has been finished.

The issue of the domestic workers not only impact their relatives and families and the domestic workers themselves but also to the people in the whole world. According to the various articles, few of the domestic workers victims died because of the abuse from the employers and even went missing. Their families and relatives might worry or even cry and even sorry for one of the family member who work for their poor families and relatives. I can really feel how painful it is for them to know that one of the family member died or went missing. I think this problem is really important to know for me and also the whole world because we might make a change to stop the slavery of the domestic workers. Even now, the governments and the police officers, are being apathetic of these serious problem about these victims and do not really investigate about domestic workers who are suffering in Malaysia. Moreover, if the whole world tries to take care of domestic workers and be upstanders instead of bystanders, the numbers of slavery who are domestic workers will start to decrease.

While researching about domestic workers issue, it was quite shocking that the employers also sell domestic workers to other employers to perform the house work. However, there are many organizations like Tenaganita who provide domestic workers their shelters and tries their best to make them go back to their country. Other organization is 'Humans For Sale Awareness Program' and it indicates that many domestic workers were treated as if they are 'things' so the organization who tries to help domestic workers volunteered for helping them by making some products to sell things to people even at the shopping mall to make them care about this issue. If this continues, then in the future, the number of slavery will decrease and no more slavery will keep on go on in the worldwide as many people know about domestic workers from many different kind of websites.

Learning about the issue of the domestic workers makes me feel that I want to volunteer on helping domestic workers in certain organization and it made me understand that there are still many people who are suffering because of their own job because I thought that nowadays, the technology and developed and most of the countries are living in a good condition. In addition, I feel really bad when domestic workers actually work as they are poor so that they could send them some money for their life. I personally just nagging to my mom even though I have done nothing for my family and even unsatisfied with my living. Moreover, I even thought that my life is really unlucky but actually I was really lucky of not doing anything  but to be educated not like domestic workers. I wish that there could be many people who realized after learning about domestic workers in Malaysia and try to help them.

The Most Potential Weapon: Nuclear Bomb

'We have genuflected before the god of science only to find that it has given us the atomic bomb, producing fears and anxieties that science can never mitigate.’ - Martin Luther King.

Nuclear bomb is known as the most powerful weapon in the world. In 1945, they bombed Japan Hiroshima to make them surrender in World War II so that the world will be in peace. It impacted the whole city and about 200,000 people died at that time. However, North Korea created nuclear bombs in early 1980s and started to test some place including South Korea Seoul, Bikini Island and other places. Many people were in fear to know what the future will be with nuclear bomb. After North Korea told that they would test nuclear bomb again, many other countries had lots of disagreements and thought nuclear weapons should be abolished. Nuclear bombs are extremely harmful to people in the world by testing nuclear bomb in different country, causes international disagreements but many people tried to find solutions to make the world into peace.

By testing nuclear bomb in different places, nuclear bomb is extremely harmful to people in this world. North Korea didn’t even care about people in that place and kept on testing and many innocent people lost their lives. ‘I do not believe that civilization will be wiped out in a war fought with the atomic bomb. Perhaps two-thirds of the people of the earth will be killed.’-Albert Einstein. This quote from Albert Einstein regretted about 25 years of his life about finding atomic bomb and made the whole world into fear. Once people bomb the atomic bomb, it will kill more than half of the world’s population life. Many people predicted that if North Korea completes the whole nuclear bomb, it could wipe out the whole world. This could impact most of the people’s lives and many people are scared of the future about atomic nuclear bomb. "It's very important that we have an effective way to communicate with the public the seriousness of a nuclear accident," Nuclear Regulatory Commission spokesman Scott Burnell told Discovery News. Many accidents about nuclear bomb happened about more than 10 times in America and Russia and once in North Korea. In North Korea, there was accident once happened while they were transporting nuclear bomb into some other place. Luckily, it didn’t impact the whole city and no injuries were there but still in the future the more dangerous accident could happen. People can’t predict what dangerous thing might happen in the future. While testing, North Korea sometimes could fail and have bad dangerous accidents happen in someday if they still don't abolish the nuclear bomb.

North Korea made an international disagreement by telling the whole world that they will test the nuclear bomb soon. The conflict has risen up more and more about North Korea Nuclear Bomb test between countries. "North Korea is directly and recklessly challenging the international community. North Korea's behavior increases tensions and undermines stability in north-east Asia." - Barack Obama. America president Barack Obama was furious with North Korea about testing nuclear bomb. Many countries except for Iran who traded nuclear bomb each other with North Korea disagreed with the testing of nuclear bomb. Many people thought that if testing of nuclear bomb still goes on then peace and harmony will break into piece by piece. People are trying to stop even now and the disagreement of international still didn’t end up. ‘North Korea has not signed the CTBT, and tested nuclear weapons in 2006 and 2009.’ CTBT stands for Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty and many nations like Pakistan, Iran and India signed that they would stop testing nuclear bomb and will abolish. Unfortunately, North Korea ignored to sign and still tested their completion of nuclear bomb in 2012 May. Many nations got really furious but the threat of nuclear bomb from North Korea couldn’t stop them from banning. North Korea still threatens most of the nations with their nuclear bomb and people couldn’t stand up for.

Fortunately, many people are trying to solve solutions to abolish the nuclear bombs especially in North Korea. Since NWC ,a community made a campaign to abolish nuclear weapons many people started to join the campaign. “All states must intensify their efforts to outlaw nuclear weapons and achieve a world free of nuclear weapons.” A group called
ICAN group joined the force of international secret meeting and started to have campaign. Many people who feared about nuclear bomb started to join the campaign and tried their best to abolish the nuclear bomb to prevent from being wiped out the whole world. This have been shown a great news that about 30 nations abolished the nuclear bomb but still North Korea hasn’t yet decided to abolish the nuclear bomb. However, it might impact them from making them abolish nuclear weapon soon in someday. “It’s a heartbreaking fact that our nation has been divided for more than 70 years. I will make painstaking efforts toward reunification.” - Kim Jong Un. After North Korea president Kim Jong Il died the next president was his son Kim Jong Un. Kim Jong Un made a first public speech and this impressed everyone in the world. Even Barack Obama thought if North and South Korea made reunification then they could abolish the nuclear bomb and the world will be in peace. Moreover, the terrible conflict will be over and the most dangerous weapon will never be used. After listening to Kim Jong Un’s speech many North Koreans cheered and hope that soon they could reunify with South Korea and abolish the Nuclear Bomb. (Video)

North Korea still didn’t ban the nuclear bomb yet and this was a big problem for people in the world. Many people lost their lives because of testing and conflict of international disagreements are still continuing. However, recently, many people are trying to ban the nuclear bomb and even claimed in media to make people to support them from abolishing the nuclear bomb. If you want to abolish the nuclear bomb: Support and join the community about banning nuclear bomb and hope that this solution could be success.

The Change of World Full of Brightness

According to BBC News, approximately 3.5 - 7.5 million people died due to the violence every year in the world. Most of the victims are about 15~29 years olds who got serious injuries or even killed because of the violence. Rio de janeiro, the huge city and is known as the most violent place in Brazil where many children who are abducted and taking risks by working for people and to do gang such as stealing. A person who started to change her favela is Mayra. (Brazil Violence) ‘Mayra’s fight goes on, as life in the favela’s remains extremely dangerous and the local facilities are poor.’ Her success of winning against violence saved more than 1000 children’s lives in Brazil. Mayra,  who is only a teenager lives in a violent environment in Brazil. When there was civil war between the drug cartel and the police, she regained control and tried to help other children in favela by stopping violence and demanded every child have rights.

Mayra’s favela was like living in a civil war between the drug cartels and the police, but Mayra didn’t want to be scared of going outside and helped put a stop to the violence. In fact, Rio is the city that is the most violent place in Brazil. Many people couldn’t live peacefully and was afraid of the gunfire happening. ‘Peace should be for everyone and we all should work for it.’ and violence affected lots of people who were innocent. ‘The violence rose to such extreme levels that, when Mayra was eleven years old, the neighbourhood was cut off and became virtually inaccessible to medical and teaching staff.’ (Children Peace Prize) Many lawless and heavily armed crime lords came to her neighborhood and had lots of violence going on between drug cartel and police. However, Mayra decided to help people who are risking their lives to be against the drug cartel and people who are injured because of the fighting. Because the war occurred so often, that people were afraid to go outside. Mayra stopped the conflict to make her favela become peaceful. Before, Mayra tried to stop the violence, it rose higher and higher that even people who are not related into this violence got hurt and even killed. Mayra made community by herself and she tries everything to have her rights. She fight for everything and declared to everyone. Fortunately, the police gave up and everyone now have their own rights. ‘She mobilized children to participate in a community march against violence.’ (Kids Rights)Mayra added a quote and tried to risk her life to stop the violence for people.  ‘Do something instead of nothing.’ (Video) At the age of 15, Mayra organized the community and made every single people to participate in the community to stop the violence. Furthermore, police was patrolling around the school so Mayra tried everything to make police to stop patrolling. Her confident had succeeded to make violence shortened. Mayra tries her best to stop the violence. She even organized the whole community to stop the violence. She is really selfless and think about other peoples’ feelings and injury. To sum up, because of Mayra a teenager’s courageousness, the violence had been shortened and her town started to become peaceful.

Mayra also declared that every children has rights to education and health care, so she organised a community that allowed children to go to school. For instance, Mayra sympathizes for someone who takes risks who aren’t able to be educated or taken care of some guardians.  “Everybody has a part to play in improving human rights, in particular the rights of children as the future generation. We can and must stand up for these children, whose rights are being violated and whose lives are at risk.” In fact, Mayra’s favela had violence so much that every health centers, schools closed down. As a result, children didn’t have rights to be educated or to be healthy. On the other hand, Mayra demanded to government about her own rights even other children’s. Mayra is courageous upstander who demands basic human rights likes education and security for poor children. Her pride is extremely strong and she even thinks rights are not given to certain people but given to everyone in this world. ‘I believe peace is not privilege.’ I have a dream.’ Mayra has a dream to stand for. She feels bad when she see someone who takes risks like children who are injured. She thinks peace is for everyone and children who are unable to educated, she demanded that all children should be educated.  Mayra tries her effort to make every children to be educated and gave hopes to others who are in risk.

Whenever, violence happened every time in favela, Mayra stops the violence to make her town to be peaceful. Furthermore, she helps children who were forced to do something and made them have their own rights. By confidently stopping violence and risking her life, she had succeeded to stop police patrolling around the school and opened the school again which was closed due to the violence. Children now could be educated and go to school like normal kids do. Because she never gave up and tries everything she can, she won against the violence. She made her town to become peaceful and the violence in her town, so she recieved Children Peace Prize in 2008. Mayra’s determination and courageous helped children. Furthermore,  Mayra is an upstander who stopped the violence and demanded children’s rights bravely.

Where I am From

Where I am From

I am from a park,
Where bicycles going fast, slow and even fall down.
I am from a building,
with tall students walking inside,
studying hard without any smiles on their faces.

I am from my apartment,
on the corner
with darkness growing and growing.
I am from TV show
full of cartoons and animation
dancing around and singing
almost screaming like hyper.

I am from enemies
hitting, frowning and gossiping
competing who is the best
Also being jealous each other.
I am from teachers
hitting me with thick bamboo stick
Always making my hand red like blood.

I am from developed things
Full of new computers, phones
Listening to MP3 in touch.
I am from street market
Opening every Thursday
Lots of discounts, crowded,
And the smell of Kimbab, Steamboat floating around everywhere.

In my drawer,
Pictures messed up
Taken when in a trip for Scout
Enjoying, joking and laughing
At each other.

My Profile I

My profile is I. It has negatives and positives. First for the negatives I can't follow the instruction very well. Whenever I listen to teacher's instructions I can't follow it by step by step. Last time, my Science teacher was giving us an instruction and I listened to it very carefully. But, I didn't know what to do I asked my friends. It was uncomfortable because every teachers give us an instruction and I can't follow it. That's impossible. So teachers need to show me some examples or some whole pictures to make me understand. It will be really easy for me to work something like projects or assignment. Other negative is that I will have difficulty of writing and communicating. Because my left eye is better than other eye so I need to see right to left. But when we write English we write left to right so it is hard for me to write it.

My positives are that when I am rlly relaxed, I can do best at something and cmmunicae well. But because when I always do test I will be totally shocked so it is not able to do test really good. Sometimes my mom said to me to relax and calm down before I got to do test. But this information is really true because last time, when I tink that math test will be easy, I got 100% in it. So bfore I am going to do the test I think I need to calm down myself first and then do my test. My other positive is I can learn something best at seeing the whole pictures. Because when I see the examples, I will understand easily and realy good at seeing pictures. It tells me when I see some pictures that someone made and pictures that I should describe.

Sometimes, my profile helps me a lot but sometimes it doesn't. But actually when I was 6th grade my profile was MM but now it changed into I. So I knew that profile could change in sometimes.

LIBRARIES ARE IMPORTANT!

Libraries has bunch of books as you know. But what if there will be know library? You can't borrow it for free and you need to buy it with your own money. It will be totally disaster. The poor people who usually borrowed books in library, they will stop to read books if there aren't no libraries. Because they are poor so they don't have enough money to buy books. Overall, libraries are really important tous to help our knowledge. We all should think we are the luckiest people in this world.
I disagree that libraries shut down. Even I don't really go to libraries, but still I love libraries. There are interesting books to read and it's free! Even though if I lost it I need to pay it. But if there's no libraries then we need to buy books and it will be really expensive because only one book is RM30.
Librabries are really important to our lives and it benefiits us a lot. So we need to be really thankful for not closing the libraries.

My Name

My name is Yerin which means wise. My mom said that she suffered to name my name specially. So I can put up my shoulders. It is short in English name only 5 letters. When I came to ISKL for first time most of them usually pronounce my name correctly. So I am jumping for joy. I can be happy with my name and have a big confidence. But sometimes I don’t really like my name as I like my turtle.

When I come to Malaysia most of the Chinese and Malaysians who is bad at English mispronounce it.It makes me dead of tired. Still my bus moniter thinks my name is so hard so she calls me Rin. It’s only 5 letters but why can’t they call my name properly? Also there’s another big problem. Koreans need to have traditional Chinese because they borrowed Chinese languages. But as I told you it is so hard and special that my parents doesn’t even know my Chinese characters.

When I ask them what is my name in Chinese characters they suddenly become confused. Their heart become stone. Because of that they named my brother easier. His name is Jeong Woo which is common. So my parents could remember his Chinese characters instead of mine. It kind of making me mad as a peak of a mountain!!!

But still I think my name is special. When I type my name in internet not much people has my name. I love my name so much and proud of myself.
